In recognition of its longstanding support of the STARS (Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society) organization, Trican has been honoured by having its logo placed on the tail of one of the STARS helicopters. The western Canadian not-for-profit organization recently held an unveiling ceremony of the logo to acknowledge Trican’s financial and volunteer contributions over the years. Trican’s CEO, Dale Dusterhoft, underlined the importance of STARS to our industry, with its ability to provide rapid and specialized emergency medical care and transportation for critically ill and injured patients, often in remote, hard to access locations. STARS provides an essential service to the public, our industry, and to Trican employees working throughout western Canada.

STARS has flown more than 22,000 missions across Alberta and eastern British Columbia since 1985 from bases in Calgary, Edmonton and Grande Prairie. In 2011, STARS began responding to medical emergencies in Manitoba from a new base located in Winnipeg and, in 2012, will begin providing services in Saskatchewan from bases in Regina and Saskatoon.
