Product Information

Sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), also known as bleach, is an oxidizer commonly used in the oil/gas well service industry. Sodium hypochlorite has the ability to oxidize and degrade most commonly used polymers in the petroleum industry, including polymers used for drilling muds and completion fluids. Treatments to remove filter cakes and damage related to drilling mud are common. Additionally, sodium hypochlorite can be used to provide controllable gel degradation profiles of systems such as Trican Viscous Gel Plug and PermBlock.

Advantages

  • Economic, liquid, high strength oxidizing agent
  • Useful for mud cleanup solvents
  • Dissolves filter cakes
  • Degrades most of the common natural and synthetic polymers used in the petroleum industry
  • Polymer breaking times are progressive and proportional to concentration of bleach
